Have a Better Life By Using Weather Instruments

What is the Display Like (Indoor Part)
The AcuRite 00777 Display features the following.
It is able to be hung or it can sit on a shelf, desk, bedside stand, etc.
It is a digital display that features the following things.
The forecast is zeroed in to specifically give you the most accurate forecast for where you live.
Not 30-40 miles away or a regional forecast but a hyperlocal weather forecast. It contains a self-calibrating weather forecast technology that is special for where you live.
The forecast is updated every 12 hours.
Next, the readings provided to you are an outside weather thermometer, this has a trending up or trending down arrow which is seen beside the temperature reading as it is presented.
It also shows you a comparison to yesterday's weather as well.
A freeze indicator also provides information for you on screen.
Last to consider is this is a wireless weather station from AcuRite.
No need to go outside all sensor information is sent to your inside display consistently.
It is updated every 30 seconds as the day moves on.
It has battery backup and in case of a power outage, you will still receive the weather readings as well as the alarm clock will still go off as set.

AcuRite Weather Station
What About The Sensor Unit, The Weather Stations Array
The sensor array, which is the outdoor part of the weather station is the home to a temperature sensor as well as a self-calibrating sensor that diagnoses the weather elements such as relative humidity and temperature fluctuations to determine the forecast it gives you the inside weather station display.
These signals are sent via wireless transmission and updated every 30 seconds.
The information will provide a freeze warning on your inside display as the temperature is definitely at 32 degrees F.
This array must be hung up at least 4-8 feet above the ground and ideally in a shaded area as well.

In this article, I will give you Ambient weather station mounting ideas.
To begin with, you need to pick the right place to mount your Ambient weather station. The best places are usually trees or poles.
You can also mount it on a wall or a fence between properties if there is enough space on the top or the side to do the installation.
If you are looking for some Ambient Weather Station mounting ideas, here are a few things you should keep in mind:
Weather stations should be mounted on a wall that is at least 10 feet away from any heat sources.
Keep your weather station out of direct sunlight and away from windows.
Mount your weather station at least 18 inches above the ground.
Mounting an Ambient Weather Station is not that difficult.
You just need to place it in a location where it can get a good view of the sky and be away from any obstructions.
An Ambient Weather Station is a device that measures, records, and transmits various environmental conditions.
An Ambient Weather Station has a sensor that detects the temperature and humidity in the air, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, and snowfall.
It also detects atmospheric pressure, dew point, and barometric pressure.
The sensor then transmits this information to a display unit which can be mounted on a wall or pole for easy viewing.
The mounting location of your weather station should depend on what you want to monitor.
If you want to measure indoor temperature and humidity then it would be best to mount it indoors in close proximity to the area you want to monitor.
You could also mount it outdoors if you want an accurate reading of outdoor temperature and humidity
If you are looking for some ambient weather station mounting ideas, here are some of the best places to mount your Ambient Weather Station.
Try out one of these 4 mountings on your Ambient weather station.

Ambient Weather Station Mounting Ideas
There are a few things to consider when mounting your Ambient Weather station.
First, you’ll want to make sure that the unit is mounted in an area where it will be able to get an accurate reading of the Ambient temperature.
This means that it should be mounted in a spot that is not in direct sunlight and is not near any heat sources.
Additionally, you’ll want to make sure that the unit is mounted at a level where it will not be obstructed by any objects.
Once you’ve found the perfect spot for your Ambient Weather station, you can then decide on the best way to mount it.
There is a variety of Ambient Weather station mounts available, so you’ll want to choose one that best suits your needs.
Ambient Weather EZ-29-24 Chimney Mounting Kit with Mast
Ambient Weather WeatherMount Weather Station Mount
Ambient Weather EZ2-35W2MC Weather Station Pole Mounting Kit
Whether you opt for a traditional mount, or something more unique, make sure that your Ambient Weather Station is mounted securely so that you can always get accurate readings.
Once you’ve found the perfect spot, you’ll want to use mounting brackets or velcro strips to secure the station in place.
With a little trial and error, you should be able to find the perfect spot for your Ambient weather station.
Ambient weather stations are designed to be mounted on a variety of surfaces.
The most popular surface for mounting is the wall.
Wall-mounted Ambient weather stations provide an unobstructed view of the display, making them easy to read.
Ambient weather stations can also be mounted on poles or tripods.
Pole-mounted Ambient weather stations are often used in public areas, such as parks and playgrounds, where they can be easily seen by passersby.
Tripod-mounted Ambient weather stations are commonly used in classrooms and science labs, where they can be placed at eye level for easy viewing.
When choosing a location for your Ambient weather station, make sure that it is in a secure and accessible spot.
I really don’t see any reason you would need to hire someone unless you can afford it, or if you just really are not handy enough to set up the right brackets, clamps, pole, and have the right tools to get the job done.

Ambient DYI Weather Station Mounting
In fact not only can you check out my DYI ideas but, you can learn more about the Ambient product line by going to Ambient Weather at Ambient Weather Best Performing Weather Stations
I have written Ambient Weather Station reviews previously as well.

One thing that will always be a concern if you are on a budget, and honestly who isn’t these days, you are probably concerned about getting the correct information and lining up your ducks on what the cost of mounting will end up being.
So you see the mounting I believe can probably be completed for around $75.00 as a DIY project.
Maybe quite a bit under, as well.
However, if you do go to the weather station pole mounting kits, you will notice many of them are for sale at between $55-$75 as well.
But some of the kits like a tripod kit can run you as much as $199.99.

My conclusions are that mounting is a very important step for you.
Protect your investment by getting your weather station properly mounted as well as soundly mounted.
Strong winds, severe heat, and severe cold are a prominent part of our weather not sometimes, but usually.
Remember weather is a very powerful thing.
Day in, day out, and ordinarily it is very basic, but once in a while, it rears up its power and forcefulness.
Be aware, and work with your weather to have a much better life.
Monitor your weather, track it, record it, and become familiar with it.
Befriend it it can be a great friend once you get to know it.
That is why I love weather stations. I watch and learn from my weather being monitored.
I hope this conversation helped you out with getting some good Ambient weather station mounting ideas.

I intend this article to give you a clear picture of what you will need to do to mount your AcuRite weather station.
It is your property, so the best thing is that you can choose where you wish for it to be installed.
The only thing is that you will need to make sure that you will be able to receive the instrument’s transmission to your display.
If the transmission is good then have a go at installing your AcuRite weather station.
Installing a weather station can be that easy, but you may also want to include a few other things to think about before deciding where your station goes on your property.
You may get your copy of my Free Report, Site Placement-Install Your Weather Station
This report will shed much more light on how, where, and why you would want to install or mount your personal AcuRite weather station.

With Mounting an AcuRite Weather Station you will experience making a few decisions.
In my report, Site Placement-Install Your Weather Station, many, many diverse reasons that will affect where you actually would be best served to place your weather station.
So I suggest heavily considering using the report as a guide, not a dictum.
You will get better results from your weather instruments if you do. Be happy that you did, instead of sorry later that you didn’t.
So in detail let’s now discuss the actual mounting of the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station.
As you know from my previous post, AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 Weather Station Review-What’s It Like, I go over why I picked out this AcuRite weather station, as my gift to my son and his family.
So the rest of this post details the actual mounting, my son and I did the other evening on his property.
Here are a few steps you should perform in this process.

Here are the actual steps I completed as I completed mounting the AcuRite weather station in his yard.
I had purchased ahead of time the mounting pieces that we were going to use for installing the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 sensor array.
I have listed the first items as they are what I used to mount my AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station. As you can see in this video.
Here is the video with the details of my purchases.
I did research on my Amazon sales for the past year. All of the weather station mounting poles, brackets, etc have been purchased by users of George Loves Weather.
I feel this can save you time researching, and that it can also give you actual suggestions that could prove answers for you.
Thus here is my list of actual mounting poles, brackets, etc that have been used to mount their very own weather stations.
List Of Customer Purchases Ideas You Can Use For Mounting Your Weather Station
So I hope you will use this list to save time.

Steps 3-5 From My Actual Mounting Of the AcuRite Iris
We left off with two steps discussed earlier. Now onto the rest of the steps.

You must prepare to set the Iris sensor array onto the top of the pole.
That is why I made sure the top of the pole was bought with a Swedged End.
This will allow for the sensor array to fit nicely over the top of the pole. Then you may insert a couple of screws through the sensor array into the swedged end of the pipe to secure the array firmly in place.
I do mention using the bubble level on the top of the array as a guide to level up your instruments.
This will ensure that the rain gauge is level for collecting the rain.
Before you secure the sensor on top of the pole very important to make sure the transmission switch is set to “Switch A” Button.
I will be setting the display inside on “Switch A” Button as well.
This is on Page 6 of the AcuRite 5-In-1 Weather Sensor instruction manual for the rain gauge calibration
There are directions in the sensor manual where you can set up the calibrations for your rain gauge

So now after everything is secured, I need to go inside the house to the Iris display, to make sure the display transmission switch (inside by the batteries) is set to the “Switch A” button as well.
After I did this within a few minutes (give it at least 15 minutes to talk to the sensor) we had results.
Weather instrument readings were showing up everywhere on the display.
The display has now populated with weather instrument data from all of your weather sensors in your yard.
Now your display is working.
Remember, the forecaster will start forecasting within a few hours.
Remember as well that it will take at least 15 days for the forecaster to hone in on your weather, so that it can give you accurate forecasts all the time, from here on out.
See the AcuRite Mounting Highlights on this video footage.
Please comment on these posts as well as please write me with any questions you may have concerning mounting your weather station.

In light of the fact that it is one of the hardest parts of mounting a personal weather station, I thought I would help you out. Give you a leg-up if you will.
As I thought about creating this post, I said to myself, what would really help a beginner with weather stations.
As I have moved forward with my website, George Loves Weather, several things have stuck out to me.
Mounting a weather station is key to getting there most from your weather instruments
Where you place your weather station instruments or your sensor array is very important.
Good results come from having a good location where you installed your instruments
Keeping all of these things in mind, I realized in looking at actual sales I have made to real users of my site, that their decisions often came from research and hard work.
What they ended up buying to mount their weather station is important to them
Thus here is my list of actual mounting poles, brackets, etc that have been used to mount their very own weather stations.

I have listed the first items as they are what I used to mount my AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station.
The Channel Master and the steel pole for Solare are the two items you will notice in my video.
Here is the finished mounting of the AcuRite Iris.
We had to modify the block of wood that the steel pole bracket holder was attached to.
Everything is working just fine at my son's home.

Consider for a moment what having a weather station with 2 displays, would be like for you.
Many weather stations come with a single display that shows all of this information at once.

Weather Station With 2 Displays
However, some weather stations come with two displays. One display is typically placed inside the house, while the other is placed outside.
Having two displays can be very beneficial. It allows you to see the current conditions inside and outside your home at a glance.
In addition, it can help you to keep track of the weather conditions in both sunny and shady areas.
AcuRite weather stations are a great option if you are looking for weather stations with two displays.
They offer a wide variety of features and are very user-friendly. Many weather stations come with a single display, but some models offer two displays.
Is it worth paying extra for a weather station with two displays?
Weather stations are becoming increasingly popular, as people strive to be more prepared for extreme weather events.
A personal weather station can provide invaluable information about the current conditions, as well as forecaster conditions, helping you to make informed decisions about how to dress, what activities to engage in, and when to take precautions.
Weather stations are a great way to keep track of the weather conditions in your area.
They can be used to monitor the temperature, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation.
There are a few things to consider when making this decision. First, do you have a need for two displays?
If you only plan on monitoring the weather in your immediate area, then one display may be sufficient.

AcuRite Multi Room Weather Station
Second, consider the size of the displays. Weather stations with larger displays may be easier to read, but they will also take up more space.
Finally, think about the features that are important to you. Some weather stations offer additional features like barometers and humidity sensors; others offer more basic features like temperature and rainfall readings.
Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences.
Having two displays can be useful because it allows you to see information at a glance.
For example, if you want to know the current temperature and the forecast for the day, you can easily check both displays.
However, a weather station with 2 displays can also be more expensive to buy.
If you’re on a budget, you may want to stick with a single-display model.
AcuRite is one brand that offers weather stations with 2 Displays; they are usually very affordable, yet proficient weather stations.
Many other manufacturers offer similar products.
Do some research to find the model that best meets your needs.
There are many advantages to having a weather station with 2 displays.
The first is that it provides you with a visual representation of the forecast on your front and back porch, which is great for those who have large yards.
Another advantage is that it can provide more accurate readings than one display can.
For example, if you have trees and shrubs in your yard that provide shade, the sensor on the back porch may not be able to sense some of the weather data.
So by having a front and back porch, you can get an accurate reading of what your yard is experiencing.
Additionally, having double the screens will provide more card options for those who are interested in this is because the sensors are closer to one another, so they can pick up on subtle changes in the weather.

AcuRite 3 Sensors
A weather station with two displays is a more efficient way to monitor the weather.
It has a digital display that can be placed in an area that is visible to the user and a backlit display for those who may have trouble seeing the digital display.
The advantages of having a weather station with 2 displays are:-It saves time by giving you an update on the forecast and current conditions on one screen.-It can be used as an alarm clock, so you don’t need to set your phone or watch the alarm.-
It has a backlit display for those who may have trouble seeing the digital display. It’s easy to set up and use. It’s not too heavy or bulky. The disadvantages of having a weather station with 2 displays are:
A weather station with 2 displays is a great way to know what the weather is like in two different places. at once.
A weather station with a 24-hour clock: it’s great for knowing the time around the world.
Some displays on the left side of the screen will show you what’s happening in your local area, and the one on the right side will show you what’s happening at your destination.
There are many benefits to having a multi-room temperature sensor.
It allows you to monitor temperatures throughout your home, and it also helps you identify where there might be any heating or cooling issues.
Kalawen Home Weather Station Multiple Sensors
One of the best weather stations with multiple sensors is the Kalawen Weather Stations Wireless Indoor Outdoor Weather Station.
This device has a variety of sensors that help you monitor your home’s environment.
It has an indoor and outdoor sensor, a temperature and humidity sensor, a light sensor, and a wind speed and direction sensor.
This weather station is also very easy to set up and monitor.
This weather station also has an alarm clock to wake you up in the morning as well as an alarm clock for when it is going to rain.
You can also set alerts for high or low temperatures so that you are notified when there is a change in the weather.
BALDR Digital Wireless Weather Station with 3 Remote Sensors
AcuRite 3 Sensors Weather Station
The AcuRite 3-Sensor Smart Home Environment System is a perfect example of where technology has taken the development of personal home weather stations.
It has evolved into offering customers a choice of having more sensors with their weather stations.
Instead of just adding an extra display for another room of your home you are now getting the ability to add extra sensors that can monitor special things for you.
If you go to either the AcuRite site post titled Multi-Sensor Display & 3-Sensor Indoor / Outdoor Smart Home Environment System with My AcuRite ,
You will see that The AcuRite 01152M Unit will provide you with the following coverage as an example.
No products were found.
This means you receive a sensor for outdoor use, the normal temperature, and relative humidity, but you also receive two more sensors that can be set up in two rooms inside your home.
As they suggest you may want to use a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, or an office as examples.
Let’s use my home as an example. My office is in the basement of a split-level ranch, and it gets colder than most other areas of my home.
In the winter it can be 10 degrees cooler and in the summer the same thing.
Both because of dependency on the outside temperatures.
So I would set one up in my master bedroom, where we like to keep it cooler at night, but not too dry.
We need the relative humidity to be higher so we don’t get dried out by the furnace running much more.
And the other one would be in my office.
So as you can see, AcuRite does promote that you may add as many as 7 extra sensors to your weather station (Environment Control Center).
You will not be tracking it on the normal Display units but through I-pad, or Cell Phone Apps.
From the AcuRite page, they discuss what is available to you the customer.
So as you can see, more choices, more technology, and more things to take advantage of.

I would like to introduce you to the AcuRite Iris. This is my complete review of the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station.
This can be thought of as the middle level in the weather station level of wireless personal weather stations that are manufactured by the Chaney Instrument Company.
This weather station from AcuRite is the second-highest level in the AcuRite personal weather station family. The highest professional level is the AcuRite Atlas series of weather instruments.
To explain this better you may check out a couple of the beginner level of weather stations, AcuRite produces for weather fans.

AcuRite Iris 5 in 1 Indoor Outdoor Wireless Weather Station
In a couple of earlier reviews, I covered the simple, beginner type of weather station from AcuRite. You can take a look at these two reviews.

Consumers like that it is a 5-in-1 weather station. Weather fans seem to be looking exactly for what this wireless weather station provides. It gives you, the temperature, the humidity, the wind direction, and wind speed as well.
And the last reading is a gauge, which measures the rain amounts for you. That is one step up that is enjoyed very much by weather buffs. Let’s look at what you get from AcuRite.
Your Purchase Includes:
You may see the whole package being unpacked in my post, Watch As I Unbox The AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 Weather Station
Here are a couple of photos of the display unit. This is a gathering part of the AcuRite Iris. The updates are completed
This is what I covered in the above video. This is all about the AcuRite Display unit. That is the inside part of the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 Weather Station.
In this video, we’re going to do a quick introduction to the AcuRite Iris, the weather sensor, and the display that is going to be for inside your home. What do this real quick, just a quick intro video?
I’ll have it in the video and also have it in the text below. There’ll be a link for this manual as well, which you can get from the AcuRite website, but I’ll provide the link so that you can download this.
What you get with the download is a nice little manual that talks about it.
And then I’m going to show you real quick what is involved with this manual. And then we’ll show you dramatically in display and demonstration.
What is involved? You can see the readings available on the display unit at the peak wind speed, miles per hour, that the wind is blowing and the average speed.

So you’ll have a current once it’s running, current speed here in the middle, you’ll have what the last hour the peak wind has been and the average for the hour for wind speed.
You’ll have wind direction right here and you’ll have exterior humidity percentage. And you’ll have the temperature outside currently as well.
Everything’s laid out here for you. You’re also going to have it here. This is your internal temperature and your internal humidity.
And that’s going to be taken from the measurements in the display unit itself, that is inside, on your desk, on your bookshelf and your kitchen counter, kitchen window, whatever, wherever you decide to put it.
And you’re going to have your forecaster, which is one of the newest nest things about this unit from Acura is that this will give you a forecast at twelve-hour forecast, 12 hours out. What’s coming?
For weather. It’ll give you two icons and this list of barometric pressure, whether it’s up or down as well.
For you, it will be the current time, the current date. And then down here, you have the alarms that are set.
You’ll have to set them up for like 99 degrees. If you want it to be told when it’s over 99 degrees outside, set up a sensor. These are all sensors for outside as well. And everything matches up here. And there’ll be directions right here.
I’ll tell you all about it. What I want to do, the last thing in this video just shows you looking at the display unit, how you hook it up, and just a couple of things to be aware of at the bottom here. So we’re going to switch to that next.
Okay, so this is what the display unit looks like. I’ve got it plugged in. This isn’t an operation because it’s not communicating with the sensor array. After all, we haven’t gone out to my son’s house to set it up yet.
But I want to show you a little bit about this display unit. Okay, so we’ve got our display unit. I want to do is show you the back of it and how this works. Now, this is all black. Hopefully, this is not enough.
Now, I was looking for a way to plug in the power adapter, and I looked around it, underneath the sides. I couldn’t find anywhere to plug it, but I didn’t have to look at my manual, the manual that came with it. It’s right here.
This is right here. I’ll provide a link for you down below, too, in case you didn’t get it, so you can download it. But this manual has everything that you need. Now, in the back, you open this up.
This comes out there’s the place for six A batteries. So I recommend six A batteries because those are used for backup only. What I found was up in here on the left side is where you plug in the power adapter.
Then you plug in your cord that goes from here to display into your computer to keep track of everything for history, for you goes in there.
The other thing is you’ll want to know there’s a switch right here.
For this switch, you have to make sure it matches up with the switch on your sensor array. That’s outside. The other thing is very important here at the top there’s what they call the Mac address, the numbers below the barcode.
You’re going to want to record them because you’re going to need them for communication between your phone apps.
If you’re going to use the phone app on your phone and the communication between your sensor array and this, you’ll need that a couple of times to enter that number.
So make sure you have that. We’ll try to hook in the power adapter here with my older fingers, but you can see it just slips right in here and is inserted in there.
And you got your power adapter set up to go. That’s the rest of the information on the display unit that I wanted to share with you.
And the intro to the display unit for the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1.
The Manuals for the AcuRite Iris may be found here
This information is for the sensor array. The Outside weather instruments.
Power for the sensor array is 4 AA alkaline or lithium* batteries*Lithium batteries are recommended for temperatures below -4 degrees Fahrenheit / -20 degrees CelsiusThe following is how often updates are sent from the sensor array to your inside display unit.
When it’s time to buy, I would recommend either from AcuRite itself, which is the Chaney Instrument Company in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin or from Amazon.
If it is Amazon from my link, then Thank You for supporting Georgelovesweather.com

Discussing Top Weather Station Mounting IdeasSo the first big decision has been made, You purchased a personal weather station. Now you need to choose from various top weather station mounting ideas.
The top choices for weather station mounting are as follows.
Here is a collection of the types of weather station mounting ideas from proud weather station owners. In observing these photos you will notice the many different types of locations where people locate their weather stations.

When you examine these ideas, you can see that you need to think about how to find and install your remote sensors.
You may search for a weather station pole mounting kit to use in your mounting.
If you do this well, you will have many years of climate information being collected properly and accurately.
You will win if you pick the proper type of mount. As I said earlier the proper mounting will make your climate information gathering a
joyful delight for you.
Weather station pole mounting kits come as prepacked, selected, ideal mounting kits. A great example of this would be a best-seller weather station mounting pole kit from Amazon.
One of the best-sellers by my viewers is the Ambient water station mounting kit. This kit when examined will trigger Ambient weather station mounting ideas.

As you can see when taking a serious look at these kits, you can mount them on rooftops, on the sides of the roof of the house, or mount them on a pole posted in your yard at ground level.

You will not have to pick out individual pieces to use when mounting your weather station. It will have already been done for you.
You will be extracting the best experience from the equipment you have purchased.
So in looking at the mounting ideas, if you decide on the pole mounts you will need to key in on a couple of very important points.
Find out how big the attachment area on your weather station is. If it will fit up to let’s say for example a description on a weather station may read as such, “The sensor array mounts to any pole between 1 and 2″ diameter. The adaptive mounting bracket and U-Bolt design can be tightened to your mounting pole (not included).”
So as you can see the stations don’t usually come with a mount set up, a pole, or any mount tripod, or whatever, and however, you decide to fasten the equipment to its chosen location.
You can take a look at some of the best offered on the market to use for the mounting process.
Ambient Weather EZ-29-24 Chimney Mounting Kit with Mast
If you choose to mount on your chimney We recommend this chimney weather station mounting pole kit to use to mount from Ambient Weather.
A note to the buyer, please be aware that the anemometer pictured does not come with the mount assembly kit.
It supplies you with a 1 1/4” inch pole for mounting the sensor unit onto. It is available in 35” sections.
So your mount can be 35 or approximately 70” or approximately 105 “ as a height, depending on what height you need.
The Ambient Weather EZ-29-24 Chimney Mounting Kit
It is constructed of rust-proof 10-steel tubing, galvanized using the Flo-Coat (zinc-chromate polymer) for excellent corrosion-proof protection. It also provides straps for mounting around the chimney.
Ambient Weather EZ-48 Weather Station Tripod and Mast Assembly
The Ambient Weather EZ-48 Weather Station Tripod and Mast Assembly
Provides a 1 1/4inch pole to mount on. It is a Tripod mount that can be used on a flat roof, or an area of the yard or a field, etc.
It is also available with a 1-inch pole for mounting.
This assembly is constructed of 18 gauge 1008-10 steel tubing, galvanized using the Flo-Coat (zinc-chromate-polymer) process for excellent corrosion protection
The tripod base is 33-Inch (85.8 cm)
Installed Tripod Height: It is supplied with one mast for an assembly height of 53″-Inch (150.8 cm). Add 35″ mast extensions to increase the height 31-Inch per extension
Accessories that will go along with the Tripod Mount I have suggested to you. These will tie down or secure the tripod mount on either a ground location or a rooftop installation.
These are two accessories that may need to be added to your Ambient Tripod purchase. One is a set of three stakes to fasten the tripod into the ground at the location of your setup for the weather station.
The second accessory item is a set of three, pads that are designed for you to fasten down on your roof the ambient tripod mount you are buying.
&
Ambient Weather EZ-245-SK 24
Ambient Weather EZ-46-3 Tar Pad Kit for Roof Tripod Installation
To understand these ideas, you must carefully plan how to find and install your remote sensors.
If you do this well, you will collect climate information properly and accurately for many years.
You will win if you pick the proper type of pole mount. You can take a look at some of the best offered on the market to use for the mounting process.
Make sure to secure your equipment properly. It should be able to withstand heavy rain, strong wind gusts, extreme heat, and possibly heavy snowfalls.
Imagine the harshest weather conditions you might face. Take steps to protect your weather equipment from loss or damage.
So location means everything to successfully collect your weather data
So in contemplating your decision, you have decided where the station will be able to sensor the best daily climate results for your liking. Now it’s time to decide how to fasten it down and set it up.
After you have purchased your weather station many different weather station mounting ideas come to
mind. Mounting your personally picked weather station is what you have been looking forward to doing.
You researched and purchased your choice of stations with the end game being that you have plans for what it will deliver for you.
Maximizing the instruments you now have access to will require setting them up properly. As you research this whole process you realize that buying the correct equipment is only a small part of the whole picture.
It is necessary to correctly mount your station in a location that will maximize the readings from these weather instruments.
With this in mind, you will now need to zero in on what manufacturer and make/model you have purchased. This will matter because of the remote sensor package that you now have.
A larger more sophisticated remote sensor unit could be as large as a couple of feet of instruments, however, most remote units are around 15-18 inches in length. This will make a sizable pack that needs to be secured in a good location.
How do you figure out where to set this up, check out our What’s Involved in Weather Station Mounting post. We have many great points to think about and act on. That will help you out with this.
So if you own an AcuRite weather station then you will be dealing with an AcuRite weather station mounting. You will need to find out from their manual what their specifications are and how they suggest you set up the sensor pack.
With the AcuRite 01036 Pro Weather Station 5-in-1 sensor the mounting instructions give you the following information “The included mounting bracket is designed to screw directly onto wooden posts or surfaces that are 2”x 4” or larger. The sensor can also be mounted directly to 3/4” steel pipe (available at hardware stores”
So as you can see companies will give you specific directions on a few measurements that you must match up when installing the sensor on an AcuRite pole mounting.
AcuRite does not seem to sell specific mounting poles, to be used with Acurite weather stations.
However, there are mounting pole kits that you may choose from for your mounting project.
I mentioned them in the earlier segment called Using a Top Weather Station Mounting Idea. Please go there to read about some of your options for mounting.
There are Davis Instrument mounting kits or Ambient mounting kits that are popular and you could buy to use with the AcuRite.
As you will notice, they can be used by any manufacturer’s product if the diameter of the coupling area matches up with the PVC piping or piping that is being used to hold the sensors in place.
The sensors come with a mounting coupler which will need to be attached to your roof your pole the top of your fence, etc, etc.
Here is what it looks like for the AcuRite Pro 5-in-1 sensor.
The most important thing is to ensure that the elements do not impact the location of your weather station.
Secure it firmly with a strong mounting pole. Make sure all your connections are tightened well. [toc]
Some parts are made of plastic. Please do not over-tighten anything, as it may break or strip something.
For optimal usage and performance, place your weather station in a suitable location and secure it.
Ensure that it is elevated above the ground to obtain precise wind and temperature readings.
Again these are discussed in our What’s Involved in Weather Station Mounting post. We hope this information has guided you, we are very glad to help you out with your setup.
What’s Involved in Weather Station Mounting
Using a Weather Station Mounting PoleLet's take a closer look at weather station mounting pieces. As I have worked on content for you the reader, I have found that there are several moving pieces when it comes to mounting a weather station.
What do I mean by weather station mounting pieces? Simply stated you have now purchased a personal weather station and you need to mount it somewhere on your property.

Weather Station Mounting Pieces
Let's take a detailed look at how you got here. Your arrival wasn't accidental, but it happened because you have completed the following steps.
So you are here now. It is time to figure out how you will mount your weather station.
Do you know, what weather station mounting pieces are needed to accomplish a successful mounting in your yard?
The first thing I have discovered on this journey is that trying to buy anything to use to mount a weather station is very difficult in my area.
I am going to go into detail to show you what I have experienced.
Finding the weather station mounting pieces in my location has not worked for me.
What I mean is I could not buy them locally near my home.
My success has been shopping on Amazon.
Follow me as I walk you through three local store walk-throughs.
I shopped at this location 11 miles from where I live. After walking the store, aisle after aisle, what I found is that they didn't carry any hardware that I could use to mount a television antenna to a location, whether it be a roof and side mount on an eave or whatever.
No section in the store had anything to offer me for mounting a weather station.
In fact, upon asking an employee I kind of received a half-baked answer.
Boiled down to "no clue" Why Are You Asking Me This, Is This a Thing Today, In 2022?"
No one installs a TV antenna anymore? Do they? So I was shown where a galvanized pipe was located.
This happened, I am sure because I said you know maybe a galvanized pipe and a bracket to fasten to a roof, a ground mount stand, whatever. So no luck here.
Only some galvanized pipes to choose from.

Lowe's Weather Station Mounting Pieces

Weather Station Mounting Pieces
So I got into my auto and traveled 5 miles to my closet Home Depot. Another large box store hardware entry. No luck here either.
I got directed this time to the roofing area. I believe the clerk this time actually did a better job listening to me, and even though he was struggling to understand what I wanted, he did think it through and directed me to the roofing area.
So what did I find here, some interesting things for my roof, some ideas, but nothing practical, that had anything to do with, mounting a weather station.

Edit your caption text here

Weather Station Mounting Pole Ideas
I guess after my visits to Lowe's and then Home Depot, I would probably get the same thing from my local Ace Hardware Store.
Well, I found out the bottom line, was yes the same thing.
But there was one large exception. I found the customer service at Ace to be outstanding compared to what I experienced at Lowe's and Home Depot.
How about your experiences? Have you found large box stores lack customer service?
Let me know what your experiences have been?
So yes as I referred earlier same last end result. They didn't have anything, I desired or needed as my weather station mounting pieces.

Farmington Ace Hardware Store
My local Ace Hardware Store, while stocked full of wonderful items, It didn't have what I was looking for.
Leaving me with Amazon being my only source of the pieces I needed for mounting the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station.
So my local search moved on. Where did I go next?
My local search for mounting pieces for my wireless personal weather station took me to the three stores I have just talked about.
Other choices? I really don't have other choices near me.
So I was kind of stuck with Amazon being my answer.
The star of this show is the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station. You may go to my review of the AcuRite Iris
or you may be interested in checking out my previous post, Watch As I Unbox The AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 Weather Station
You can see why I am excited about getting this set up. I will be mounting the AcuRite Iris in my son's yard.
Watch my videos from the mounting on my YouTube Channel George Loves Weather.
So quite a bit of research went into finding what would work for mounting the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station.
I decided to mount it on a tree stump, in an area of a yard. It will require a bracket to be screwed into the tree stump.
Then a pole either threaded into the bracket on set on the bracket holder and tightened so as not to move.
I can see the biggest problem with the mounting process to stabilizing the weather station against any wind. Higher speed winds especially need to be accounted for.
So I settled on these two pieces. I purchased them from Amazon as you can see.
I had looked at these other poles and support pieces before I had decided on the ones that I am going to use when mounting this weather station at my son's home.
[amazon box=”B000SONAJ6″ template=”horizontal”]
[amazon box=”B098NHTF64″ template=”horizontal”]
So I will be using these two main components in the mounting.
I see that one of the pieces the Steel Pole for Solare Street Lights actually wasn't exactly what I thought it was.
The pictures in the description show it appearing perpendicular. That is what I wanted to buy.
Often the descriptions in Amazon are wanting for a more accurate description and more pictures.
Be Aware of this when shopping for weather station mounting pieces.
However once the piece arrived it has a slight angle to it. So some DIY adaptations will be needed at the time of mounting.
If you watch the mounting videos for the AcuRite Iris you will see what I mean.
Anyway we made it work for us. Below are some other suggested pieces that may work for you.
[amazon box=”B09QMMVMF4,B002SAOHH2,B088LK17KV” grid=”3″]
So when you're going to be placing your weather station, you're going to have different types of groundwater, trees, rocks, soil conditions, the house where it is to sheds, all kinds lines of things you're going to be dealing with.
So as you deal with that, what you're going to need to do is think about the whole picture that you want to get the best reading from all five of the sensors that you have in the five and one sensor array.

Rocky Hardpan Property Not Good For a Weather Station
Now the first thing you're going to do is this is an exaggeration, but you obviously don't want to have it around rocks because rocks and soil will generate some extra heat.
Now, there won't be any evaporation, but you can't have it near trees. So this is just a strange example that I wanted to show you started out with just thinking about hardpan.
What we call hardpan is something to stay away from. It will lead to some maybe false readings. Readings that aren't the best for you. Why you say is because you want the best results from your wireless weather station.
Placing a weather station is never an easy thing.
However it is a very important thing in getting the best results from your weather instruments.
So as you walk around your property, you may have something that looks like this, like a rocky area under a tree, but just off this, there might be some grass in an area that's open.
Just think about first, you have to think about the evaporation that comes from a tree.
You got to think about the shade and you don't want it to be in a sunfield, but you don't want it to be totally in shade either, because the rain gauge has to be out in the open a bit to get collect rain.
But you also don't want to have the tree interrupting anything as far as any of the readings. So that would be something you'd want to stay away from too.
Now, this is an example of an open field area. That's what I call hardpan.
It's like shrubs and brush and hard soil, some rocks, small rocks, but really no grass cover.

Should You Place a Weather Station Under A Tree
This is more of an open area, but you're dealing with the river here, and this could be dealing with a lot of evaporation on hot days or also with the mountains and the clouds here.
I suspect you'll be getting a lot of rainfall in this area if you own this home, have this tool shed, and whatever

Placing a Weather Station
So the thing you might want to be thinking about is finding a space.
It's a little bit out in the open, maybe a corner of a barn roof, something like that, a corner of a tall shed.
We're going to get it out in the open a bit, and that's just an area to think about.
I guess think about the water and the evaporation and then with the mountains, the wind because I think usually mountains create wind tunnels coming off them in strong conditions that you often want to have the right measurements from.
But you also don't want it to be interrupting other readings you have coming from your weather sensor.
Now, this is like the scenario we're going to be looking at in the presentation of mounting an AcuRite Iris at my son's property and you'll see in the videos there that we do have a pond on his property.
Now it's smaller than this but it's still enough that for evaporation like that you don't want to put a weather station down by the pond itself or near the trees where you would want more of an open situation so just something to think about.
Now, a creek running through your yard. This probably isn't going to affect much of anything because probably sometimes in the year it will be dried, dryer, or dried up a little bit.
But in the spring when snow is melting, if you have snow you might have run off, there might be some things in here that might affect your weather station.
I would just say probably try to stay away from things to think about with the weather station that you want to think that the transmission is probably up to 300, 330ft away from your home.
You don't want to have trees or large rocks or anything like that.
Interrupting power lines, electrical sources of power, generator, anything like that.
Probably want to stay away from them as far as being in direct contact between your display inside your home and the sensor array outside.
Now there's another thing. You probably don't have this kind of thing.
This is more like a park. But I just want to show you the kind of soil that could be.
There are some of these on bulb plants that come up like Jonquills or Daffodils, and just hardpan areas under a tree. You don't really want to have your personal wireless weather station in that kind of situation either.
This is probably more like a real situation that you might have.
You might have some rolling grass that maybe you don't cut that often.
That probably won't affect anything too much as long as the grass doesn't get too tall.

Grass By River

Tall Rough Grass
So that looks like an area where you maybe could put something that's out in the open a bit that's away from the trees here's some rocks.
But this grass, if you mow it five to six times a year, would be all right to put something in space like this.
Tallgrass, like a spare lot, a vacant lot between homes. Sometimes the grass gets kind of tall.
That, again, could affect the reading on a weather station near it due to the fact that there's a lot of evaporation, especially when it rains.
There's a lot of moisture coming off and there's a bank, an area probably 5 to 10ft above the ground, where there's a lot of evaporation happening.
In the morning this type of lot creates a lot of ground fog as well. So the grass is short grass, but it's hardpan scrub, short grass, medium size grass, or tall grass.
We've covered all the things to be looking for for a difference in evaporation in your yard.
Now here's something this yard looks more like something I've seen.

Vacant Lot Tall Grass
This is an area that may look like a lot that you own, maybe an area close to your house to take better care of.
Maybe an area where there are trees and stuff you don't mow as often.
We'd want to find something that's like an open area like this that you could put a weather station in because it's not going to be affected by any small buildings around where water is evaporating off roofs after the rain or sun is reflecting off the size of buildings.
Again, you don't want to put it underneath any of these trees.
But an area like here, an open area would be all right where it's shaded at times.
Is it like a forest floor where there's a tall grass with leaves that collect tall grass back here?
That's probably not your situation, but is that a good situation to put a weather station in?
Well, that depends, I guess, on how open that is or how close it is.
Look at the picture here. In a minute was closed.
This is more closed. But then again, these are conifers that grow straight up.
Maybe that's something that you want to think about is I wouldn't put it in this kind of thing.
A forest floor where there's probably a lot of evaporation, A lot of sun, and a lot of wind that tunnels through here. So you're going to get some kind of inaccurate.
Not that you would want to do that. Just saying these are types of examples of flora and fauna, the ground surfaces that you want to be aware of.
Now, this would be more of a situation.
This again looks like the edge of a very large property or a park. Again, grass-like this where it's just kind of spaced out would be all right to put on.
It wouldn't be too rocky. It wouldn't be too grassy. The grass isn't too tall and it's not near shade trees or buildings.
So that would be an area you can look at as well.
Now, this is probably a more realistic look for some people.
You may have a yard that's harbored in with bushes that are trimmed in paths here and all this.
So where would you want to put a weather station here?
Well, probably not on the sun side and probably we're still going to get moon exposure.
Maybe like the Eastside for exposure to a sunny morning.
But the South and the Southeast, to the Southwest, would be lesser coverage, and definitely, the Westside shining brightly against something you wouldn't want that exposed a long period of sunshine either.

Tall Shrubs In Yard
But this is just something again, you might want to look at as far as the situation here. A nice situation, a backyard.
Now, I probably wouldn't place a water station anywhere in this area because of the different types like conifers and shrubs and bushes.
They're all going to cause evaporation and collecting of rain, where things are going to get damper than normal and because it's heavily shaded. There's a lot of moss in these areas.
So that means that it doesn't get a lot of open-air and a lot of ventilation. So I would stay away from this.
Because this could affect a humidity reading.
In this situation we want to place it near this building or the front of the building, or near the shaded areas here.

Mounting Weather Station Location
Maybe an area like here coming down towards the bottom here and maybe an open area where you could place something. Now, this would be a good situation.
Not exactly this picture, but it looks like this opens up more towards the bottom of the picture.
I wouldn't put it near the water or the trees or these plants because again, plants breathe.
They emit carbon dioxide. And so there's a lot of plants growing here, a lot of plants breathing.
So I would probably stay away from that. Go back towards more of an open area.

The open area might be something like this, except this is Sunfield here, probably a little bit too much.
So I don't know which way the sun is facing, which way this is facing.
But if you want to do a roof for this weather station in this area here, there are no trees or foliage.
You could probably do that. Just remind you, though, if you're going to go off a rooftop, you want to go 10 to 15 feet above the roof because the roof will gather heat from the sunlight.
Same with this area. Depending on how much sun you would know how much sun these areas get.
An open area here, maybe, I don't know, an area a little bit where it's not quite shaded. Maybe this is only shaded an hour a day.
That might work because trees are off to the left here. So that might be something to look at.

This yard looks very familiar to me. This would be like a driveway here and there's an old tool shed down here, some trees, and you've got some rough areas here that you have, some areas that you mow and keep trimmed up.
So you could maybe put something, maybe something in here in the corner, again, depending on the sunlight that it gets, as well as being open so it can collect rain properly too, and also deal with thinking about the wind and where the wind direction is coming from.
Also, look at how much sun you're getting, and the ground cover for evaporation.
I don't see anybody water here. Keep in mind that roads and stone roads do gather more heat.
The roads are lighter, so they reflect more heat, so they're not absorbing the heat, but they're reflecting off.
So the heat, if you were to actually look at the therms coming off from the ground is probably seven, eight-foot off the road coming up.
That is something that would be close in this area, close by to those terms would be affected for the temperature gives you a false rating for the real temperature in your areas.
You can see by reading through this, that I have pointed out many different things you will need to be aware of.

I recently was able to take advantage of an awesome sale price on the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station.
I am looking forward to installing it at my son and his family’s residence. What I wanted to share with you in this post is exactly what your purchase of an AcuRite Iris 5 1 weather station includes.
Sometimes I have found that shopping to buy a personal weather station often makes it hard to tell what you may be receiving if you do buy it.
Leave no stone unturned. Here is what I received in the box from AcuRite.

So I have decided it is best to leave no questions about what is included and what isn’t part of your package.
I am going to share my video from my YouTube Channel, George Loves Weather as well as provide you with my images taken from opening the box.
The video may be found by going to it here.
Or better yet you may watch it here.

What do you think? It’s pretty basic, but I also look at the photos to get more of a feel for what this set of weather instruments is about.
Upon receipt of the box from Chaney Instrument Company Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, you will receive an instruction pamphlet for the AcuRite Iris model that you have been sent.
It has specific instructions for you.
These instructions are specifically for the display of the weather station. Here are a couple of shots for you.

As I unpacked the box the next parts present were the mounting bracket
And the large Iris Sensor Array lay at the bottom just waiting to be plucked out and set up.

AcuRite Iris 5 1 Sensor Array Instruction Manual
There is also a set of instructions for the AcuRite Sensor array.
This AcuRite set of directions or the Sensor Array manual gives specifics about the sensors housed with the array.
Many things are part of the total weather station. In this 5-in-1 wireless sensor, you have the rainfall collector funnel, it has a solar cell panel, and an internal aspirating fan to reduce solar radiation heating.
This unit also houses temperature and humidity sensors.
Also included is the mounting hardware. which includes 5 anchors and a set of 3 different screws.
Included as well is a debris filter for your rain collection pan.
A very worthwhile thing is the filter. It will filter out flying leaf debris and bird feces, etc, all things that could affect the rain gauge readings.
As you can see the Sensor Array is the collection of weather instruments that you receive with the AcuRite Iris 5-In-1 weather station.

You should start the setup process by sorting out where you plan on having the display (inside) indoor part of the weather station.
It is usually best to put the display unit somewhere that you will have daily and maybe hourly access to it.
Some people like heavily traveled rooms such as the kitchen, dining room, and offices, and some like hallways.
Maybe a shelved area near the front door or some prefer a family room?
I don’t know maybe a bedroom? A Living Room?
Now comes the outside part of the AcuRite Iris.
Where are you going to locate the instruments that will do all the heavy lifting for you?
Hours and days of providing you with your weather.
The mounting will be handled by walking your property and figuring out the best spot for you to locate the outside Sensor array.
You are very welcome to get your very own copy of my Placing Your Weather Station Hack Worksheet.

This will guide you to finding the best spot for you on your property.
